Robotics in shared environments
The original article discussed robotic cleaning and observation at an airport, including surface treatment, thermal observation and liquid cleaning applications. These are different functions and must each be assessed against their intended use and operating environment.
Planning the operating area
Any deployment in a shared space needs a review of occupancy, routes, access and the interaction between equipment and people. A cleaning task must be defined clearly, with a suitable operating sequence and appropriate supervision.
Validation and responsible use
A robotic platform does not itself establish a health outcome. Cleaning methods and any related performance claims require evidence relevant to the process, surfaces and operating conditions. Project planning should identify the assessment and acceptance requirements before equipment is selected.
